The Jefferson Federal Charitable Foundation, formed in March of 2003, was established for two reasons:

1. To make a positive difference in the Hamblen County community.
2. To provide a permanent funding mechanism that would serve to continually enhance the quality of life for everyone who lives and works in and around Hamblen County.

As such, whether we can enable those already established in an organization or charity to continue the work they have begun, or to help build new organizations to meet additional community needs, our goal to make a permanent difference remains the same.

As a compliment to Jefferson Federal Bank's existing community lending and reinvestment activities, the Foundation, conversely, is dedicated solely to community reinvestment activities through resources and avenues that are not presently available to Jefferson Federal Bank.

All of us at Jefferson Federal Bank, who have worked to make the Foundation a reality, are excited to have the opportunity to put a funding source in place that will meet the needs of people, families and organizations throughout our community today, and in the years to come.

Philosophy & Mission

Established entirely for charitable purposes, and structured as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt charitable organization, the Jefferson Federal Charitable Foundation's mission is to provide funding support to charitable causes within Hamblen County and surrounding areas.

Such grants include, but are not limited to, community development support, housing assistance, scholarships, local education, not-for-profit medical facilities, not-for-profit community groups, cultural organizations and other similar types of organizations or civic-mined projects that serve to enhance the quality of life throughout our local community.

The Foundation will consider grant requests from all charitable and civic organizations. Those projects or organizations that can demonstrate an ability to cost effectively deliver services and benefits, which meet the needs of the Hamblen County community and are consistent with the Foundation's philosophy and mission, will receive funding.

While the Foundation will provide grants to offset operational expenses, our preference is to invest in permanent enhancements that will have a long term impact in the lives of our citizens who live, play and work here.
